Straight cams, also referred to as flat cams are the rotating locking bar situated on most cam and tambour locks. Each lock manufacturer makes their own type of cam fixing point. Shapes vary from a simple square, to a cross giving four potential fixing positions. Lowe and Fletcher produce a hexagonal one which can be fixed in eight positions. It's important to ensure that you order the type relevant to the lock manufacturer. Straight and cranked cams are measured from the centre of the fixing hole to the end of the cam this is worth taking note when looking for a replacement cam for your lock.
